So this evening I went to a meeting with a few local kinksters, hosted by Daddy Tony with the Stop AIDS Project. The topic was mostly about a new website the are looking to launch, focused on the younger men who are coming into the scene or looking to explore. The domain they chose was teachmekink.org. The questions were mostly about what kind of content to have on there if you are someone just coming out, looking to explore your kinks, looking to experience kink, where to go, what kind of resources, and still have the site look hot. The age group to reach are men between the ages of 18 and 35. Some of the content that we discussed were the fact that play parties cost money, some are not old enough to go into the bars, where and who can they ask questions to, and how to make them feel comfortable being around older players which can sometimes be intimidating. We discussed content from having contacts to ask questions, the SM Safety guide, different links, a calendar of events (national like MAL & IML), video streams of younger players, demonstration videos, as well as a Q&A blog.
What Id like from my lj friends (and perhaps you can get some other ideas from your lj friends in the scene) is more of brainstorming on effective content for the site. What would you want to see if you were *that* guy who really doesnt have a venue or know where to go to find answers. Even the questions that seem common arent always common. All help is definitely appreciated and Im sure in the long run, it will help someone else find themselves or at least find comfort in knowing they arent the only newbie and there are friends in the community who can help.
If you are in the SF area and are within the age group mentioned, I definitely want to hear from you (and perhaps participate in the next discussion/focus group. I know several who I would certainly be of help and have some great ideas.
Peace to all and all comments are welcome (and appreciated).
